As a charity, our need for fundraising is guided by our mission to assist at risk youth and their families. We are encouraged that the success of our programs has enabled many children and their families to live a brighter future. With your help, we will be able to continue to provide and expand our quality care and services to individuals in need.
Parkland Youth Homes Society is a private, non-profit organization governed by a community board of dedicated professional and business leaders. A continuum of services is provided to young people and their families that reside in Central Alberta. Parkland began as Parkland Clinical Treatment Centre, a program of Woods Homes in Calgary, in 1986. In 1997 this program evolved into a separate legal society and an autonomous, community-driven organization.
Through positive intention and therapeutic intervention, we assist children and families to experience enhanced possibilities in their lives.

Our intention is to assist families to experience success in family and community functioning with the least intrusive interventions and with respect for individual needs. We recognize that everyone has unique needs, and we are committed to providing a service continuum that is able to compliment these unique and changing needs. Donating to our organization is an ideal way to make much needed improvements in the lives of many children and their families through the many services we offer.
The Odyssey Treatment Program is designed for youth between the ages of 12 – 17 who have experienced prior living conditions that created behavioral, mental health, and emotional distress. Since these children may have been in the justice system or have education set backs, this program focuses on the development of emotional self regulation, family safety and well-being, healthy personal relationships and academic adaptation. The Solstice House Group Home tends to the needs of youth between the ages of 15 – 17 who have experienced stress at home and in their community and whose needs exceed the resources of foster care but who no longer require on going treatment. To these children the Solstice Group Home is a place to reside during their transition to independence or a more appropriate arrangement. The Equinox Connection Group Home is a transitional placement program for children ages 11-14. These children require greater attention due to their previous situation that may include: sexual abuse, substance abuse, physical and emotional abuse, and neglect. We aim to provide a well-rounded, stable placement for these children who cannot currently manage within a family or foster care situation.
The Caregiver Network is a group of families that are committed to the belief that family is the cornerstone of the community. Parkland Youth Homes Society aims to reestablish and strengthen family ties regardless of whether the goal is to provide a permanent alternate home or to prepare a child for reunion with their natural family.
The Street Ties Program seeks to divert youth from street involvement that may lead to drug addiction and sexual exploitation through education, crisis support and early intervention. It functions as a crucial link between youth and relevant services such as Child Welfare, Local Shelters, Health Care and other services as the need arises. Street Ties Outreach Workers engage youth at the street level to provide awareness and intervention through art projects, harm reduction, addictions counseling, referral and nonjudgmental support. Parkland Youth Homes also offers a Walk-in and Focus Counseling clinics, outpatient clinical family services, and psychological assessment and consultation services.
